Updates from UNNA Monthly Meeting
- Pedestrian safety has been an issue brought forward by Denver City Council. Within UNNA’s boundaries the intersection at Downing and Mexico is a significant concern. Councilman Kashmann recently met with DOTI at that intersection to observe the issues. A crossing solution will be considered for the 2025 budget.
- Other City Council concerns include: neglected and derelict buildings and properties, the number and placement of gas stations around the city. Councilman Kashmann’s office reports that the solutions for derelict properties has been a slow process due to lack of priority and funding. City Council is looking into limiting the number and placement of gas stations throughout the City by prioritizing other land uses.
- Denver Days is back! July 24-Aug 2. Fees and permits are waived for approved activities during this time period. The deadline is too soon for UNNA this year, however next year would be a good time to plan for a community activity!
- A question was asked to Councilman Kashmann’s office regarding the rental property licensing and whether there was good cooperation from owners. There are no firm statistics, however it seems that many owners are registering.
