Councilman Kashmann reports that there are openings on a variety of community boards and commissions looking for community engagement. Some of these include: Non Profit, Crime, Aging, Women’s Issues, Human Rights, and more. Those interested may find more information on denvergov.org under the Boards and Commissions tab.

Additional topics covered by Councilman Kashmann include policy work by the council regarding regulating how many and where future gas stations should be allowed to build in the city and how to manage neglected/derelict properties. Additionally, Council is working on a Citywide policy to regulate Accessory Dwelling Units (ADU’s). Currently the City needs to come into compliance with the State Law. The thought would be to drop any need for zoning changes, allowing ADU’s to be built in any neighborhood. The need for building permits, inspections, and safety would not be compromised however. In addition, the owner of the property must still live on the property, e.g. the owner may not build an ADU and then rent out both dwellings.

A business at 2425 S. Downing Street (just out of our boundaries on the West) has applied for a Liquor License . The hearing for this will be on 9/24/2024 at 1:00 PM if you have an interest.
