Community Outreach: Alley Clean up scheduled for May 17th 2025. Margy confirmed with Sean from the City, that clean up can continue on Sunday the 18th if that fits for different folks. We have one person confirmed as a volunteer besides the UNNA committee. Margy will put together a flyer shortly for distribution. Masha will include the flyer in the District 6 Newsletter.
Councilman Kashmann Report: There is a council meeting with several neighboring districts on Tuesday March 18th from 5:15 to 6:45 at Most Precious Blood concerning community input for the Mayor’s proposed 800 million dollar Bond Issue proposal. The moneys may only be used for capitol projects (not for salaries or departmental needs). There is a survey for public input on denvergov.org/vibrantbond
There will be another District 6 Citizens Academy at Cook Park on April 16th from 5:30 to 7:30. Masha will resend the flyer and Margy will have it posted on website and send it to members with emails registered with us.
Discussion was held regarding traffic related safety concerns in our neighborhood. The crossing at Downing and Mexico is now funded, thanks to the advocacy of Liz Ulman. There is not a firm timeline for construction as of yet. Councilman Kashmann relayed that the enhancement of the cross walk across Evans at the Asbury Elementary School is now on the radar as Amy Ford from DOTI has communicated with him regarding this. Concerned attendees and neighbors are encouraged to continue advocating through multiple processes including letters to the Mayor’s office, calls to 311, attending an onsite meeting with DOTI arranged through Councilman Kashmann’s office. Time and Date to be determined.
Yard Signs: There are a couple more yard signs available for neighbors to put up in yards for UNNA.
Meeting adjourned at 7:25
