Community Outreach: UNNA will have the required Annual Meeting on September17th, 2025. Location will be Christ Lutheran Church at Franklin and Downing beginning at 6:00PM. Outreach will happen through Nick’s newsletter/facebook, Kashmann’s newsletter, UNNA website, Yard Signs, and flyers. Jennifer will help with distribution as well. Suggested speakers include: Councilman Kashmann, a representative from DOTI to speak about traffic safety, the DeBoer Bridge, and parking; a representative from DU to speak about construction plans, and a representative from DPD to speak about crime data and neighborhood safety.
Councilman Kashmann Report:
- Stop sign requests from citizens and RNO’s in District 6 have been sent to the Mayor’s office as there has been little progress through other channels.
- The cross walk across Evans at Asbury Elementary has been through the design stage. It will include a regular signal and red/yellow/green traffic light signal. The cross walk will be reconstructed to include bump outs from curb eliminating parking and shortening the
distance of crossing, and a refuge island in the middle. In addition signage East and West of the cross walk on Evans will be updated, and enhanced.
- The cross walk at the Harvard Gulch path on University has had the signal light installed, the ramps built and power placed. It should be functional by the end of the month.
- There will be a public meeting held in the the next few months regarding the bridge in DeBoer Park. The reconstruction has been approved through City Council and design/construction will be in coordination with the Mile High Flood District
- Traffic flow has become a more pressing concern in this neighborhood with the increase in multifamily dwellings and buildings. Masha asks that we compile a list of problem intersections for Kashmann’s office to review.
Input from Neighbors:
Jennifer N. brought traffic concerns re: the construction and median at High and Wesley. She will report concerns to 311 and report back to Councilman Kashmann’s office, Nick and UNNA with the case number to monitor. Information will be relayed to Molly Lanphier at DOTI.
Another concern is the speed of traffic on Race. It is noted that there are stop signs for travel North and South on Gaylord and Vine at Vassar which both dead end into DeBoer Park but not on Race. This seems to have promoted speedy traffic on Race and York (North and South).
Russ also has concerns regarding traffic at Downing and Iowa with the influx of traffic increasing from Santa Fe, and I25 as well as increased density.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:09 Next meeting is August 13th at 6:30 via ZOOM.
